Tom Heffernan

Chief Executive Officer

Tom’s healthcare journey began in the early 1990s as a U.S. Army Deep Sea Diver (Captain), where his experiences sparked a passion for innovative healthcare solutions. This led him to pioneer Chronic Wound Centers, dedicating his career to creating cutting-edge outpatient treatment facilities.

As a co-founder of MMR Holdings, Tom has played a key role in the development of open MRI facilities, addressing patient concerns around traditional closed tube and wide-bore systems. His visionary leadership expanded MMR’s influence across various healthcare sectors, including the creation of lithotripsy centers, women’s healthcare units, cosmetic laser surgery centers, and cryoablation facilities. Tom’s unwavering commitment to healthcare innovation continues to shape MMR’s success and impact on the industry.

John Platusic

Chief Operating Officer

With a career spanning over 35 years in healthcare, John has dedicated his professional life to improving patient care and organizational operations. Starting as a Respiratory Therapist, John’s journey in healthcare has seen him rise through the ranks, showcasing his natural leadership abilities. Over the years, he has served in various critical roles, including front-line MRI Technologist, Area VP of Operations and since 2003, his role as COO. In his 28 years with MMR Holdings Inc John has been an integral part of MMR’s continued success through the most trying times. His extensive experience and passion for healthcare have shaped him into a respected leader who continues to drive MMR’s success and growth.

Michael Pienschke

Director of Operations

Michael has over 30 years of experience in radiology, beginning his career in nuclear medicine before cross-training in MRI. He has been a dedicated professional at OpenSided MRI for more than 23 years, serving in many positions from MRI technologist to Director of Operations. In addition to his clinical and leadership expertise, Michael has been instrumental in the startup process of five multi-modality imaging centers, contributing to their development and operational success. His extensive knowledge in imaging technology, workflow optimization, PACS and patient care makes him a valuable leader in the medical imaging field.
